Meg and Jared’s smokey desert elopement sprawled from Tucson to Mount Lemmon’s Windy Point, and every moment was glowy Sonoran magic. The smoke, drawn in from the west, covered them in an ethereal haze and added so much to an already perfect day. It was such a treat to give these PNW friends such a show of the desert! These two met a couple of years ago playing softball, and even though he knew how to play and she didn’t, it was quickly a connection. Their love is spunky, silly, and so so sweet, and their wedding day was an incredible embodiment of that love.

While Meg got ready, Jared hung with some of the family who had come to celebrate with them. Amongst the family were siblings, Meg’s parents, and a small handful of nieces. The group was cozy and kept the day super intimate with the added bonus of more people to celebrate (drink champagne) with.

When we headed out for our desert first look in Tucson, it was still a balmy 105 degrees outside, but once we made it up to the elopement site, it was a perfect sunny and 75. The haze from the smoke was pretty dang thick, but it added an element of magic to a location that never sees this kind of weather.

Meg’s father preformed the ceremony while the rest of the family watched from a distance. Once rings were exchanged and vows were read, they started the celebration immediately with a mountainside first dance followed by a champagne pop with the largest bottle of champagne I’ve ever seen!

While I stole them away for some quick photos, the family enjoyed a killer sunset with a flaming red sun. They climbed rocks, teased each other, and fully soaked in that newly-married feeling while watching one of the best sunsets I’ve seen in a while. The night was topped off with a cozy, at-home celebration featuring cake, Mexican food, dancing, and margaritas in champagne flutes. I feel beyond lucky to work with every single couple, but Meg and Jared were especially fun. When you have a family who loves to laugh, a love that prioritizes fun, and a day that is as easy as you’d hoped it would be, what’s not to love?
